Altus Rotary has refurbished, painted, and installed flooring in over 1,000sq feet of the Operation C.A.R.E. building located at 221 W. Walnut. This project was made possible, in part, by a grant from The Rotary Foundation. 37 volunteers, 38.5 hours of volunteer time, 4 rooms and 2 halls.

Meet our Newest Member
Meet Staci Kirby. Staci is a local to Altus, Oklahoma. She attended Altus High School and Western Oklahoma State College. She is married to Kevin Kirby.
Staci is the Executive Director of Amethyst House Recovery. Amethyst House opened in 2018 and is a nonprofit in Altus. Amethyst works to help women who are battling drug and alcohol addiction. Amethyst provides housing, counseling and jobs to these women.
There was a time in Staci's life when she needed help and there was nothing available in southwest Oklahoma. Her prayer is that Amethyst House Recovery will be a place where women can come and have real change in their lives.
Staci looks forward to being a part of Rotary and sharing our commitment to Service Above Self.

Liz Taylor has dedicated the past year as the executive director of Operation C.A.R.E. Ministries.
Operation C.A.R.E works closely with the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance to provide essential free services to the Jackson County community. These services include, but are not limited to, clothing, small household items, medical prescription assistance, GED support, and help with securing vital documents like birth certificates and IDs. The organization also assists with utility bills on a case-by-case basis.
Operation C.A.R.E. offers annual events such as Mobile Smiles which provides free dental services three times a year. In July they host a large back-to-school bash which gives every student, who qualifies, a voucher to receive a free backpack and all the required school supplies for their classroom. In August they host a shoe giveaway for school age students. They distribute 250 new shoes at this event. Additionally, during December, children can shop for Christmas gifts for their family members at no charge.
Every third Saturday, the ministry provides hot meals, food distribution boxes, and a worship service, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the community's needs.
Liz reminds us of what the Bible says,
Isaiah 58:10, “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as noonday.”
Scot Davis is a native of Texas. He graduated from Texas A & M and became a financial advisor with Edward Jones in 2015.
In 2017, Scot relocated with his wife, Gretchen, and their four daughters to Altus. He opened an Edward Jones office on Tamarack and has settled right into the community.
Scot has supported numerous community projects and events and serves on the Operation C.A.R.E. Ministries board of directors. Scot joined the Altus Rotary in 2017 and was the club's president 2020-2021.
