Larry Duffy is home and feeling better. He may not be able to join us at Rotary for a while so please continue to pray for him.
Please keep an eye out for your opportunity to serve your community with The Salvation Army Bell Ringing and Santa Connection.
The club voted last week to not make any changes to the current rule for awarding Jr Rotarian Scholarships. Only one student from Navajo will be selected each year, legacy children (who meet the qualifications) will receive preference, and AHS Interact students, who have served 2 or more years with the club, will also receive preference.

Last Week's Program
Our speaker last week was Robin Garmon. Robin is a native from Altus, Oklahoma. He graduated from Altus High School and received his PharmD from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
After spending time in the service and as a police officer for the Altus PD, Walgreens of Altus, offered Robin a position in their pharmacy. This was long before it was ever built on the corner of Main Street and Falcon Road. The construction of the store experienced many delays and Robin decided to accept a job at Southwestern Medical Center in Lawton.
Robin was the Director of Pharmacy at Stillwater Medical Center, for many years, when he received a call from our local Walgreens. Walgreens had been experiencing many issues and they were in need of good leadership to get the pharmacy back up and running. Robin gladly accepted the challenge.
Walgreens is the only pharmacy in town that accepts TRICARE, the insurance carried by every active duty military member and nearly all of the retired veterans. With a Air Force base and so many veterans, calling Altus home, it was imperative that there be on off-base pharmacy that was able to fill prescriptions in the evenings and on weekends.
Today the Walgreens pharmacy has 2 fulltime pharmacist and 7 technicians. The pharmacy has set hours of Monday thru Friday 9AM to 8PM and Saturdays 9AM to 6PM. Robin says that the atmosphere of the pharmacy is much different than before. The employees work well together and all have the same mission in mind, to serve Altus and the TRICARE members to the best of their ability.
Steve Hartgraves was born and raised in Texas but he said that of all the places he has lived, Altus, Oklahoma is his favorite.
Steve has been the President / CEO of Jackson County Memorial Hospital for the past ten years and has extensive experience in healthcare administration. Before coming to JCMH, Steve served as Administrator/CEO at both Graham Regional Medical Center and Hansford County Hospital District in Texas. Steve has also worked as the Director of Marketing & Off-Campus Services at Texas Health Resources.
Steve holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Tarleton State University, along with bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Marketing. He and his wife, Karen, have three children.
Being the President / CEO of a hospital, with nearly 600 employees, certainly keeps Steve busy. He is active in his community and He joined Rotary 10 years ago and has been an active member. Although he experiences conflicts in his schedule and isn't able to attend meetings as often as he would like, Rotary is important to him. We are grateful for your years of dedication to the Altus Rotary Club and value you as a member!
