PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Lone Star PETS is Rotary’s training program for Rotary Club Presidents-elect and President-nominee throughout the State of Texas.  The goal of Lone Star PETS is to prepare Presidents-elect and President-nominees for their upcoming roles through provocative plenary speakers, in-depth breakout sessions, and informal fellowship and networking with Rotary peers throughout Texas.  Lone Star PETS is a joint effort of ten Rotary International districts in the States of Texas and Oklahoma.

Each year, over 550 Presidents-elect attend Lone Star PETS and leave well-prepared for their Rotary year.  Lone Star PETS is organized by a Board of Directors and an Operating Committee that work in concert with the District Governors-elect of each of the ten participating Rotary Districts.  Additionally, current Governors and Governor Nominees, plus Past District Governors contribute to the Lone Star PETS experience by working with the Operating Committee.

Last Week's Program
Abagail Reyna is a very accomplished and talented senior at Altus High School. Congratulations to her on being the March recipient of the Altus Rotary Jr. Rotarian Scholarship.
Last week, Abagail updated our club on the extracurricular activities at AHS.
-Water sports were finishing up their season and competing at State last Tuesday. The team's 4th place finish at the state finals is a great achievement.
-Altus was proud to announce that three wrestlers qualified for the state competition.

-Spring sports are in full swing. Take an opportunity to come and cheer on your Bulldogs during tennis, soccer, golf, archery, or track.
-A stellar performance by TAB (That Altus Band) and the AHS Ensemble Choir.  They will be sending an impressive 22 students for competition at the state level!

-The art students are planning an Art Show and will visit the Capitol. Abagail wanted to remind everyone that the Walkn' on Chalk Arts Festival is on March 30th. She encourages everyone to come out and see the talent.

Abagail will be awarded a $500 cash scholarship at the AHS end-of-year awards ceremony.

Last Week's Rotarian of the Day

Meet Mike Duffy, a dedicated and accomplished legal professional and hometown boy.  Mike is married to Christy and the couple have one daughter, Kristin.

Mike attended Oklahoma State University for his undergraduate degree and then received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.  Mike says that although he attended both universities, he bleeds orange!
Mike is not only a skilled attorney but also an active member of Rotary with 36 years of service.  Mike has held numerous positions in the club including serving as president and most recently, membership chair where he helped bring in the largest number of new Rotarians in over a decade.  Mike is always there to step up when needed and we are grateful for his commitment.
