10/1 Rotarian of the Day will be Adam Winters with a program from Thomas Cohrs, Field Representative for Senator Mullins.
Junior Rotarian for the month of October will be Jon Henry Darby.
50/50 raised $120 and those proceeds will go towards a club social event. Thank you to our winner Jay Mahan who generously donated his winnings back to the club.

Last week our ROTD was Jeni Teman who brought us an update on Work Ready Oklahoma.
Last week, our Jr Rotarian of the Month of September, Garrett Morley, was accompanied by his mother, Deena Morley. He gave us an informative update on the current events at Altus High School. Garrett will be awarded his $500 scholarship at AHS's end of the year awards ceremony.
We were happy to welcome, Jeni Teman's special guest, Robetha Darby.
Nikki Kilhoffer informed the club of a concern that was brought up, during the committee meeting, regarding the awarding of scholarships. Nikki will reach out, via email, with more information and ask for the club to vote regarding the matter.
Debbie issued a challenge to the club; 10 members join the Polio+ Society and make a commitment to donate $100 per year until Polio is eradicated from the earth. Thank you to those who filled out the form and, to those who were unsure, please reach out to me with any questions. Let's save the children!

Work Ready Oklahoma is powered by the Oklahoma Human Services Department. There are 21 centers across the state including the one right here in Altus.
The purpose of Work Ready Oklahoma was summed up by Jeni like this, "we help people find a job, get hired for that job and keep the job". Jeni says that the course is two weeks long. The first week is a requirement and covers things like creating a resume and learning interviewing skills. The second week will hone in on job specific tasks like learning computer skills. The curriculum is provided via zoom and classes started 2 weeks ago. Altus had the largest class at 25 participants.
Work Ready also collaborates with local businesses when helping their participants locate a job. Jeni says that businesses are more willing to offer a position to someone who has completed the course because they know that person was set up for success. Once hired, Work Ready will continue to work with both the employee and the employer for 90 days to make sure that it is a good fit.
Currently the classes are being held at SWTC but there is a plan to open their permanent location at 101 E. Broadway on October 1st.

Jeni Teman was born in Romania and lived ten years of her life in Germany. She speaks three languages, English, Romanian and German. Jeni arrived in the United States in 1988. She purchased her first home, in Nevada, and that was what birthed her education in real estate and real estate investing.
Jeni worked in all areas of realty and served on not only the local and state levels of various real estate committees but at the national and global levels as well. She wrote several books during her real estate career and received many awards including Nevada’s prestigious Abraham Curry Award. Jeni retired from realty in 2019 and began working as a certified financial coach.
In 2022, Jeni purchased a home in Altus and immediately began immersing herself in the community. Currently, Jeni is the Program Director and a job coach for Work Ready Oklahoma. She has held numerous board positions and is certified as a life coach, health coach and financial coach.
Jeni has been a Rotarian for 20 years, She has been an active participant, with the Altus Club, for the last 2 years. You will find Jeni volunteering her time and talent at every event. Jeni is generous and kind and fully believes in putting service above self, a true Rotarian.
